The following can be attributed to Rashmi Rangnath, Director, Global Knowledge Initiative, and Staff Attorney:
“Today, Public Knowledge joined a coalition of organizations promoting transparency in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. The campaign, called Stop the Trap, is dedicated to ensuring that any rules that may impact the Internet are developed in an open and democratic manner.
“The Stop the Trap campaign is an opportunity for organizations from the negotiating countries to voice common concerns with the substance of the TPP, including the possible lengthening of copyright terms, criminalization of non-commercial-scale infringement, and restricting limitations and exceptions.”
Stop the Trap, organized by the Canadian organization OpenMedia.ca, is supported by Sum of Us, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Council of Canadians, Derechos Digitales, and Tucows.
