Public Knowledge joined Consumer Reports and New America’s Open Technology Institute (OTI) in filing comments in reponse to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) proposal to require mobile service providers to unlock consumer handsets within 60 days. This period would allow providers ample time to detect fraud while also improving equity for communities disproportionately negatively affected by locked devices.
