Public Knowledge and New America’s Open Technology Institute filed comments in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on modernizing the spectrum sharing framework for geostationary (GSO) and non-geostationary (NGSO) satellites. The comments ask the Commission to replace the existing infrastructure with an updated spectrum sharing framework based on good faith coordination with objective defaults as safe havens.
