AT&T is working with the movie and music industry to become the first broadband carrier to block pirated content from its network. Gigi told the LA Times, “AT&T is going to act like the copyright police, and that is going to make customers angry…The good news for AT&T is that there's so little competition that where else are the customers going to go?”

Wired news summarizes the bills floating in Congress to continue the moratorium on Internet taxes. While it's unlikely that subscribers will ever be taxed per email or bit, it isn't clear how Congress will address VoIP services or sales taxes.
