The following statement is attributed to Gigi B. Sohn, president and co-founder of Public Knowledge:

“We are pleased that the Senate passed the stimulus legislation with a mandate for open networks intact. We trust that the negotiations and conference on the bill to follow will maintain the commitment to a vibrant and open telecommunications system. We also trust that the congressional negotiators will maintain the integrity of the legislation and not burden it with harmful, irrelevant, unworkable and special-interest provisions, such as having all Internet users’ traffic filtered at Hollywood’s bidding.”
