Comments submitted to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration on the state of competition in the mobile app ecosystem, the factors affecting app development and distribution, and active ways to increase competition, through government or private sector action.
Public Knowledge’s comments point out that policies designed to enhance competition should be written in a way that implementation details… do not frustrate their aims. The NTIA’s report should help policymakers do [so], offering not only data on the state of the market, but, as a technical, expert agency, how the state of competition for apps relates to the technical features of mobile devices, and the legitimate threats that users face from bad actors and malware.
