Public Knowledge is pleased to announce two additions and one change to our team. First, Public Knowledge welcomes Jenna Leventoff, Senior Policy Counsel, and Bertram Lee, Policy Counsel, as new additions to our government affairs and policy teams. They will add depth and experience to our policy analysis and advocacy across the full breadth of issues Public Knowledge is leading on, including free expression and content moderation, privacy, broadband deployment, and spectrum policy.

Prior to joining Public Knowledge, Ms. Leventoff served as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Workforce Data Quality Campaign (WDQC) at the National Skills Coalition, where she led WDQC’s state policy advocacy and technical assistance efforts on state data system development and use. She also served as an Associate at Upturn, where she analyzed the civil rights implications of new technologies, and as Manager and Legal Counsel of the International Intellectual Property Institute, where she led the organization’s efforts to utilize intellectual property for international economic development. Ms. Leventoff received her J.D, cum laude, and B.A from Case Western Reserve University.

Mr. Lee served as Policy Counsel at the Committee for Education and Labor prior to joining Public Knowledge. There, he covered technology, labor, and health care issues under Chairman Robert C. Scott. He also served as an Associate at Laura Murphy & Associates, where he helped develop strategy for the Facebook civil rights audit. Mr. Lee holds a J.D. from Howard University School of Law and received his B.A. from Haverford College.

Additionally, Public Knowledge is pleased to announce the promotion of Charlotte Slaiman to Senior Policy Counsel. Since September of 2018, Ms. Slaiman has focused on contributing to Public Knowledge’s growing work around antitrust and competition policy. As Senior Policy Counsel, she will take on a greater leadership role in the development of Public Knowledge’s growing platform competition and accountability policy portfolio and will contribute to the organization’s strategic direction.

The following may be attributed to Public Knowledge President & CEO Chris Lewis:

“We are fortunate to have as talented and experienced staff joining the Public Knowledge team as we have in Jenna and Bert. Jenna brings several years of advocacy and coalition experience to our team and should have an immediate impact on our work on important legislative efforts such as the STELLAR reauthorization, broadband access and deployment issues, and comprehensive privacy legislation. Jenna brings a passion for technology policy that was developed in three very different nonprofit organizations. Her versatility will be a tremendous addition to our lobbying team. Bert comes to us with the invaluable experience of serving as a committee staffer in the House of Representatives. His knowledge of Congressional procedure and high energy is a welcome addition to the Public Knowledge team. Bert has a deep interest in big data and algorithmic decision making that will be an asset to our team as we continue to lead conversations around emerging technologies.

“I am also pleased to recognize the contributions of Charlotte Slaiman by promoting her to Senior Policy Counsel. Over the last year, Charlotte has demonstrated a keen policy mind and steadfast work ethic. Her policy skills are matched by her selfless teamwork. We will count on Charlotte to manage more projects and mentor junior staff and fellows in her new role as Senior Policy Counsel. Her knowledge and political judgement will set a tremendous example for her colleagues and contribute greatly to strategic decision making.”
