Today Public Knowledge announced Recast Comcast, a contest to remix the slew of recordings of poor Comcast customer service that have been appearing on the internet this summer.
This contest challenges everyone to remix these various recordings into something amazing, and hopes to create something positive out out many hours spent on Comcast customer service calls. As the grand prize, Public Knowledge will pay the winner’s last Comcast bill.
The following can be attributed to Meredith Whipple, Digital Content Associate at Public Knowledge:
“In July 2014, Ryan Block released a recording of his negative customer service experience with Comcast. In the weeks following, many other recordings of similar experiences with Comcast have surfaced.
Unfortunately, treatment like this may only get worse. Comcast is attempting to merge with Time Warner Cable, meaning almost half of all high speed internet will be under their control. With less competition, this combined company will have even less incentive to treat their customers better.
In the meantime we want to raise awareness of the apparent implications this switch will have on consumers. We are asking the public to create a remix, mashup, autotune, interpretive dance – whatever they think of to draw attention to these unacceptable customer service experiences!”
