“The appointment of Alec Ross as a senior advisor on innovation in the State Department is a welcome sign. Just last week, Public Knowledge and 18 other groups asked the Obama Administration to raise the profile of technological innovation within the government.
“Alec's career has been one of fostering the development and use of technology to help people better their lives. At the State Department, he will be able to showcase those talents, and the value of innovation, on a global scale.
“We hope that other departments in the Administration will also appoint senior officials to foster innovation with their areas of responsibility and influence.”
