“We were very disappointed to learn that Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) has decided not to run for re-election this year.

“Throughout his career, Sen. Dorgan fought for the interests of consumers ahead of the interests of corporate media giants. No one in Congress is more dedicated to the cause of Internet Freedom than is Sen. Dorgan. He is a true Internet champion.

Whether protecting the free and open Internet from 2006 through today, persuading the Senate to curb the power of newspapers and broadcasters (with help from the Federal Communications Commission) looking for extraordinary consolidation in 2007 or fighting to protect a competitive telecommunications market in 1995, Sen. Dorgan's priorities never wavered. He will leave behind a legislative legacy for which all consumers should be grateful.”
