The RIAA's recent online holiday greetings, a black-on-magenta animated silhouette, to the tune of Ginza, by Vince Guaraldi, lets us all know how much they think of themselves:

The text presented in the animation is as follows:

    Smart Moves:

1607: Pilgrims leave England for New World

1895: Wright brothers decide to build airplanes

    1944: Allies invade Normandy

1964: The Beatles debut on The Ed Sullivan Show

1984: Chicago Bulls select Michael Jordan in NBA draft

    1992: Starbucks goes public

2005: Supreme Court rules against illegal file-swapping

    Announcing Another Smart Move:

    The RIAA Has Moved

    Happy Holidays!

The Recording Industry Association of America

    1025 F Street, NW / 10th Floor / Washington, DC 20004

Just after the line: “Announcing Another Smart Move,” I honestly expected the next line was going to be: “No More File-Sharing Lawsuits.”

Funny, I thought the holidays were all about compassion and humility. Clearly, humility to the RIAA is comparing their corporate headquarters move to: the exodus of a persecuted people; man's discovery of flight; and the beginning of the end of WWII. Gotta watch it again. Amazing.
