Stephen Bennett is the Director of Development and External Affairs at Public Knowledge. Prior to joining Public Knowledge, he was a Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA. Stephen has taught courses in communication and media studies at the University of Minnesota and at St. Olaf College. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and his master’s degree from Illinois State University, where he won the Cavanagh Award for Best Thesis in Global History.
Stephen was raised in the rural Midwest, where he developed a love for the outdoors by fishing for smallmouth bass on the Fever River, backpacking through the Boundary Waters, and ice fishing on Lake Bemidji, among other adventures. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his son, Zak, and his rescue cattle dog, Ollie.
