Last week, Boing Boing’s Xeni Jardin appeared as a guest on MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” to discuss the ongoing net neutrality debate, specifically the deceptively-named “Internet Freedom Act,” proposed by Arizona Senator John McCain. Despite its catchy title, the Act would actually prevent the FCC from adopting rules to protect the free and open Internet. Interestingly enough, on the same day that Senator McCain introduced this piece of legislation, the Sunlight Foundation released a report that revealed that McCain had accepted nearly $900,000 in campaign contributions from large telecom companies and their lobbyists during a two year period–more than any other member of Congress received from the telecom industry during that time. And lest we forget, McCain also had AT&T and Verizon cellular towers installed on his property last year, as was reported by the Washington Post.

At any rate, the clip is worth watching, if for no other reason, for the thrill of hearing someone on a major news network say “Internets” on the air. Be sure to check it out.
