Please help us honor Sherwin Siy’s legacy of activism and mentorship by supporting the next generation of policy advocates through a new program in his name.

Sherwin Siy was a champion of the public interest and a passionate advocate for the openness of information in the digital era. He was a member of the Public Knowledge team from 2006 to 2015. His expertise spanned a range of fields including copyright, privacy, telecommunications, and free expression. Sherwin passed away in July 2021, and his loss is felt deeply across the technology policy community. He is remembered as a supportive mentor, brilliant colleague, and kind-hearted friend.

With the support of Sherwin’s family, Public Knowledge has created a memorial fund as part of our PKTrains program. Sherwin was a trusted advisor to many young people in tech policy and helped nurture a new generation of advocates. All of the contributions to this fund will support the costs of hiring and hosting Sherwin Siy Memorial Fellows or Interns. Under this program, they will receive advocacy training and have the opportunity to further the goals of Sherwin’s work on copyright reform and open access to knowledge.

To contribute to the fund, please use the form below to make a tax-deductible donation.
